It appears that the chemicals in sun screen may be effecting the ocean’s ecosystem…huh, who’d have thunk it? I guess UV Skinz help protect more than you and me. Here is an exerpt:
“News today of one more way human activity might be helping wreck the planet: Research by Italian marine biologists, reported in Environmental Health Priorities, suggests that the sunscreen that washes off the skin of swimmers in the tropics may be contributing to coral bleaching.” (read more)
I am all for protecting the environment, but not all human activity should be considered “helping wreck the planet”. We are part of this planet and it is our duty to both enjoy and protect our planet and ourselves. It is good to lead an active life which means the the occasional bug might get squished, the shrub might get trodden upon, water will be drunk, air will be breathed. Interacting with our environment is a part of living, lets just do it responsibly.
