I am so thrilled to announce that UV Skinz donated 100 swim shirts and brochures in support of the Heather Anderson Land Melanoma Awareness Day. The event was held on Saturday March 28, 2009. One hundred people were screened for skin cancer and $2500 was raised for their scholarship fund. Dermatologists found one melanoma and several cancerous abnormalities. When I first read that I was shocked because I’m sure people came to the event without a clue that they may have skin cancer. This is just another reminder that everyone should get regular skin checks and always practice safe sun protection.
Heather Anderson Land
Melanoma Awareness Day
As many of you know we held the 1st Annual Heather Anderson Land Melanoma Awareness Day on March 28 2009. We were extremely happy with the turn out and support from the communities of Farmersville and Germantown. We consider the first year of this event an overwhelming success and look forward to improving it next year. With your help we raised $2500 toward Heather’s Scholarship Fund. More importantly several individuals screened during the event were found to have moles that need to be removed and as we know early detection leads to lives being saved. Thanks again for all of the support and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
