Sun-safe clothing (1)There are numerous non-profit organizations committed to raising skin cancer awareness and encouraging sun safety practices among the public, one of our favorites being fellow advocates and friends, AIM at Melanoma. AIM is currently the largest international melanoma advocacy organization in the world, and continues to provide researchers with cutting-edge tools and resources needed to make life-changing discoveries and advancements in melanoma. We have been blessed to partner with this organization and support their efforts for over 5 years, by donating product and promotional goodies for their countless melanoma walkAIM Photo 1s across the US (check out the photos below featuring some cuties and our UV Skinz umbrella hats!) 🙂

The formation of AIM was the result of two melanoma advocacy organizations joining forces: The James A. Schlipmann Melanoma Cancer Foundation and the Charlie Guild Melanoma Foundation. Both of these foundations formed as the result of losing loved ones to melanoma, and both organizations were founded by family members who wanted to make a difference in the lives of others living with melanoma while preventing skin cancer from developing in others. Since joining forces, AIM at Melanoma has been unstoppable!

Through events and outreach efforts, AIM drives awareness and provides opportunities for the public to get involved and make a difference by raising funds, advancing research and creating a better tomorrow for the melanoma community. In addition to community involvement, AIM is also leading the way in education and legislation reform. The organization is diligently working to get bills passed into law across the country to ban minors from using indoor tanning devices, and also hosts patient and caregiver symposiums at major cancer centers across the country!

AIM’s website is the leading online resource providing comprehensive easy-to-access melanoma information. In addition to offering educational material to help visitors understand melanoma, through their website you can memorialize a loved one, make a general donation, or search for a local AIM event in your area!
